The Empty Tombs Along The Road

A few years ago, the Highway Department of Israel was digging in a hillside to widen Highway 6953 near Megiddo. In doing so, they hit an extremely large “rock”. With more digging, they realized that they an unearthed an ancient rolling stone tomb. This tomb has four inner chambers. (The two that you can see were cut into by the excavation equipment before the realized what they had discovered.) A heads up from our tour guide is how we knew they were coming. It certainly gives you an idea of the size and massiveness of the rock that was rolled away. Great reminder #HeLives

Also a beautiful reminder of why you need a great tour guide. He was quick to tell us and let us know there was no place to pull over and take shots. Much of Israel is this way. The preservation of certain sites is merely because a church has been built around it.

I certainly want to invest more of my time in preserving things in Israel.

Our tour guides name for Israel was Habib. Habib Boutros is a freelance tour guide that handles both Israel and Palestinian Tours. I want to take a moment and introduce him, because he was key to a successful and enjoyable trip. Habit’s knowledge of history and the area around Israel as well as Palestine was essential.

Our Tour Company was Inspirational Tours. https://inspirationaltoursinc.com/about/

They were so helpful in getting our initial covid tests figured out and organizing everything. We appreciated all of their work.
